Audio - Headphones & IEMs
Home
I own a small number of headphones and IEMs; these are my opinions on them.
For now, given my little experience, I will not be ranking these on any scale.
Headphones
- Massdrop x Sennheiser HD58X Jubilee
- Warm-neutral with good bass. Daily driver. Comfortable fit.
- Beyerdynamic DT900 PRO
- Wide soundstage and tight-ish bass with just a little too much treble. Slightly tight on the ears.
- Grado SR60e
- Somewhat wide soundstage with nasal mids and treble. When bent right, it floats on the ears.
- Samson SR850
- Holy treble - fatiguing to listen through. Fits well.
- Sony WH-1000XM3
- A usable consumer wireless headphone with too much bass. Comfortable to wear though.
- HifiMan Sundara
- Nice.
IEMs / Earphones
- Moondrop Quarks
- Neutral-ish, little resolution, a bit shouty. Decent for £13. Microphonic cable.
- Moondrop Chu
- Bright neutral tuning for £20. Cable doesn't like fitting behind my ears without the loop.
- These broke while I was in Europe. I question Moondrop's QA since this also happened to a friend.
- Etymotic ER2XR
- Detailed, cold neutral tuning with nice bass. Ear-violators. Good for drumming with foam tips.
- SoundPEATS TrueAir 2
- Ouch. Don't really fit human ears. Avoid.
- Apple Earpods
- A reasonable freebie, but muddy. They often fall out.
