Sequitur Non Sequitur (2022) - The Daniel James Songbook

The Writer's Thoughts

This album consists of sequiturs - conventional TDJP tracks, interspersed with non sequiturs - mostly sample based electronic tracks made as a bit of fun. Special thanks to a fox, who was the inspiration for some of the sequiturs as well as sharing with me the original inspiration for the non sequiturs - the Noah S. Sweat whiskey speech. Overall I think I could've toned down the non-sequitur parts and moved them over to PrJDTh instead. The lyrics to "Fallen Star" came from a black metal song I recorded and don't want to release.

Waves

[Instrumental]

Sweeping The Floor

Sweeping the floor, sweep sweeping the floor
[Repeated]

There's nothing like the feeling of a brush against the floor
Sweeping all this shit there is from door to bloody door
I should've seen this coming from a million yards away
But education be my lesson, I put this off for days and now I'm

Sweeping the floor, sweep sweeping the floor
[Repeated]

Take this brush, it's full of fucking hair
The bin's split again, the neighbours complain
My back fucking hurts, it starts to rain
Recycling's done, hey hey hey

Mould doesn't grow on trees
Square pegs fit in round holes
Gas doesn't grow from money
Fuck my energy company

Sweeping the floor, sweep sweeping the floor
[Repeated]

Timesig

("That was absolutely painful")

Clarkson

[Vocal samples from Jeremy Clarkson saying "yeet" in 1998]

Forget The Festivities

It's that time of year again
Now busier than most
Forget the festivities
It's time we did something with our lives

Ships sail across the yardway
Hitting bridges below the ground
With a ladder to the earth's core
There is no returning loop

As the graveyard stirs
Under the ocean

In the bridging of the Atlantic
Was found deeper silt too
Rusting the centre of our journey
To the forest of the keep

As the trees sparkled
In incandescent ways

The fire is nearly put in
May it evaporate our mortal sea
Once and for all
Where townhouses once stood

Only I do now, expecting something
Greater than a dancing penguin

It's that time of year again
And we're closer than most
Forget the festivities
It's time we did something together at last

Reciprocation Dingle Arm

Old Paper Bag

This old paper bag is burning
And I don't want to know
The wind in the trees is howling
And I can't hear to know

And I don't, and I don't
And I don't want to know

The universe is spinning
And I can't feel to know
The second hand is ticking
And I can't see to know

And I don't, and I don't
And I don't want to know

The village square is flooding
And I don't care to know
The sirens are screaming
And I don't need to know

And I don't, and I don't
And I don't want to know

The walls inside are breathing
And I don't want to know
The heart I own is beating
And I don't want to know

And I don't, and I don't
And I don't want to know

The ocean is a-parting
And now I want to know
The gap it is a-closing
And now I want to know

And now I, and now I
And now I want to know

And now I, and now I
And now I want to know

Brade Runnah

[Vocal sample from Blade Runner]

Specinfoton

[Approximated sample of a Special Information Tone starting at A]

Fallen Star

In the shadow of a freezing sun
Where the men fled to wage our war
Cold fires burn so slowly
I raise myself to the scorching flames

In the woods where, when I have fallen
Darkness lies unsatisfied by moonlight
An eternal winter nears the end
I raise myself to drown my senses

Fallen to murky depths below comprehension
Unholy starlight waiting for the throne
A throne so sacred, Gods clamber to sit
But my fallen star shines cold once more
